It's still there, but to a lesser degree and not as "curvy" as on the older AF-S 24-70/2.8. Zooming in to the upper part of the focal range, things look different, though.

It is definitely expensive at $2400, which makes it about twice the price of a Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 VC. I already own a 70-200mm f/2.8 Lens from Tamron, and the problem I was running into was that my Nikon D810 didn't First and foremost, many folks (if not most) find 24mm far more useful than 28mm, especially for landscapes, nature and architecture. Secondly, the 24-70mm is a Nikon built 'S' lens. 'S' as in their highest quality level. You will find the corners wide open much sharper on the 24-70. The 28-75 is a re-purposed Tamron previous generation lens. Phenomenal Lens !! I own both 50mm 1.8S Prime lens and this 24-70/2.8 lens to shoot travel and family pics. Because of the superior optical performance and mind-blowing color rendition, I end up using this zoom lens almost all the time. Once stopped down to f/4-f/5.6 range, I am expecting to see insane resolving power on the Nikon Z7. And already the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8E VR is the best 24-70mm f/2.8 lens on the market (per our Imatest lab findings, based on overall performance from center to corner at every focal length), so to see the Z lens beat it would be exciting indeed.At $999, the Tokina 24-70mm f/2.8 isn’t cheap, but could represent great value compared to own-brand options, such as the $1797 Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8G ED or the $2397 Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8E ED.
